Andrey Dotsenko’s MANUS DEI Charitable Foundation helped a resident of Novaya Kakhovka to undergo a rehabilitation course at the Modrychi center
The disease overtook Marina Marchuk, a resident of the city of Novaya Kakhovka in the Kherson region, unexpectedly. As doctors say, the peculiarity of almost any tumor is that at the very beginning the disease has no symptoms. It was the same with Marina.
For a long time, her back periodically hurt, then the pain became stronger, and she went to the doctors. She made an X-ray, on which everything was fine, and underwent a course of medical massage. Soon the pain became very strong, her legs began to weaken rapidly – the girl was again forced to consult a doctor. The diagnosis was a shock to Marina and her family: MRI diagnosed a benign tumour of the central nervous system. There was no time to hesitate, and in the summer of 2013 she was operated on: fortunately, the disease was overcome, but the girl remained confined to a wheelchair.
Since then, Marina has been constantly exercising at home (her father made special simulators with his own hand) and attending rehabilitation centers if the family has the financial ability. Because people with disabilities must regularly exercise in order to restore the lost opportunities of the body, as well as maintain its work and minimize the risk of complications.
In June this year, ICF “MANUS DEI” joined in helping Marina Marchuk and transferred funds to the account of the rehabilitation center “Modrychi” (Lviv region), which specializes in the rehabilitation of people with disabilities. For two weeks, the best rehabilitation therapists in the country worked with Marina with the help of kinesiotherapy, hydrokinesis therapy and physical and sports rehabilitation.
As Marina herself noted, the gym in Modrychi is the leading, modern technologies for the rehabilitation of spinal injuries with automatic verticalizers and lifts, as well as highly qualified instructors, whose work is extremely important for people confined to a wheelchair.
Marina expressed gratitude to the head of MANUS DEI Andrey Dotsenko and the director of the fund Andrey Parkhomenko for the opportunity to undergo much-needed high-quality rehabilitation, and wished others never to give up, appreciate life and believe in the best!
