Chairman of ICF “MANUS DEI” Andrei Dotsenko: “More than 20 thousand children with cerebral palsy need rehabilitation – parents and correctional centers cannot cope on their own, so we need to help”
Among the many unresolved issues in the health sector, the problem of rehabilitation of children with lesions of the central nervous system (CNS) remains acute. This requires attention and significant financial costs, because more than 20 thousand young Ukrainians today suffer from cerebral palsy.
Last year, the state allocated 11 million hryvnia to help – there was enough money for basic medicines, but such children need constant rehabilitation. Therefore, the MANUS DEI charitable foundation, whose main areas of work are the provision of medical equipment and assistance to children with disabilities, supported the department of social and medical rehabilitation of children with organic lesions of the central nervous system of the territorial center of the Podolsk district of Kiev. Today, on the eve of the International Children’s Day, the heads of the foundation handed over to the department equipment that will greatly simplify the work with children and make certain procedures more comfortable: a modern massage table, special desks and furniture. This is a significant help to the department, but it does not cover all its needs.
Therefore, the chairman of the foundation, Andrei Dotsenko, invited caring people to support the unique department:
“Due to the difficult situation with domestic medicine, we invite you to support the work of the department of social and medical rehabilitation, to make your own contribution to making it more comfortable for children with severe CNS lesions to live among us. Do not be indifferent, do not be afraid to sympathize and help others – this will only make you stronger, and a good deed will pay off with children’s smiles and achievements. ”
In fact, the department operates in the format of a kindergarten for special children, with whom experienced specialists like educators, speech therapist, massage therapist, psychologist work here. The department also has a daytime group and a short-day group.
The head of the hospital Tatyana Chuvakova noted:
“Our department is both a kindergarten and a rehabilitation center for children with cerebral palsy between the ages of three and fifteen. The number of places is limited, because the center is located on the territory of a kindergarten, and we cannot accept all the children. Thanks to experienced teachers and specialists, children who, due to cerebral palsy, cannot move independently, receive the necessary rehabilitation here and significantly improve skills that will help them and their parents in everyday life. “
